Certified Russian diploma translation
Diplomas, supplements, academic transcripts and degrees from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and the former USSR — associate, bachelor, master and doctorate. Certified, notarized and accepted by evaluation agencies.
Your hard-earned degree, in English
You are in the right place for a professional Russian translation of your post-secondary education documents — diplomas, diploma supplements, academic transcripts, certificates and degrees received in the former USSR republics, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. We work with every type of degree: associate, bachelor's, master's and doctorate.
You will receive a certified and notarized translation of your hard-earned educational documents. We provide a word-for-word translation of the document, including stamps, and our translators declare that they rendered a complete translation to the best of their knowledge and belief. Certified translations guarantee the highest quality and accuracy because they are performed by professional, experienced translators.
Our team includes translators who participate in the ATA (American Translators Association) certification program. The translated documents will be accepted by your prospective employer, US college or university, evaluation company and U.S. Immigration (USCIS). You can receive the translation by email (PDF) or by mail (hard copies with “wet” stamps and signatures) — the choice is yours!

Further education
We provide an accurate translation of your diploma, official transcript and academic statement so you can apply to undergraduate, graduate or professional programs in the US. All major education evaluation companies — ECE, WES, IERF, AES — accept our certified translations. Continuing your education in the United States helps you stay competitive in your profession and can lead to career growth and higher earnings.
Employment
An official translation of your academic qualifications helps you gain a foothold in the US job market and increase your earning potential. A professionally translated diploma encourages employers to review your application with a better understanding of your educational achievements — so it's important that the translation is grammatically correct.
Immigration
When applying for a Green Card, H-1B or other US visas, you must demonstrate an appropriate level of education. Our certified translations of educational documents fully comply with the requirements of USCIS and other US immigration services.
What your diploma is called in English
The names of Russian and Ukrainian degrees don't map one-to-one onto American ones. Here is how we translate the documents we see most often — the same terms, every time.
Russia
| In your document | How we translate it | Usual length | Entry requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Аттестат об основном общем образовании | Certificate of Basic General Education | 9 years of school | — |
| Аттестат о среднем общем образовании | Certificate of Secondary (Complete) General Education | 11 years of school (10 in the USSR) | — |
| Диплом о среднем профессиональном образовании техникум, колледж, училище | Diploma of Secondary Vocational Education | about 2–4 years | after grade 9 or 11 |
| Диплом бакалавра | Bachelor's Degree | 4 years | secondary school |
| Диплом специалиста | Specialist Degree | 5–6 years | secondary school |
| Диплом магистра | Master's Degree | 2 years | bachelor's or specialist degree |
| Кандидат наук после аспирантуры | Candidate of Sciences | 3–4 years of postgraduate study + dissertation | master's or specialist degree |
| Доктор наук | Doctor of Sciences | dissertation | Candidate of Sciences |
Russia is moving to a new structure: new students are being admitted to basic higher education (базовое высшее, 4–6 years) and specialized higher education (специализированное высшее, 1–3 years). Diplomas issued earlier keep their original titles — we translate both. Source: Federal Law No. 273-FZ “On Education”, Article 10.
Ukraine
| In your document | How we translate it | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Молодший спеціаліст | Junior Specialist | former degree, now replaced by фаховий молодший бакалавр (Professional Junior Bachelor) |
| Молодший бакалавр | Junior Bachelor | 120 ECTS credits |
| Бакалавр | Bachelor | 180–240 ECTS credits |
| Спеціаліст | Specialist Degree | former degree, no longer awarded |
| Магістр | Master | 90–120 ECTS credits |
| Кандидат наук → Доктор філософії | Candidate of Sciences → Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) | the PhD replaced the Candidate of Sciences |
| Доктор наук | Doctor of Sciences | highest scientific degree |
Credit volumes follow the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education”, Article 5.
Which U.S. degree is my diploma equal to? That is decided by the credential evaluator — WES, ECE or another agency — not by the translator. Our job is to translate the title and every grade accurately and consistently, so the evaluator sees exactly what your diploma says.
Accepted by NACES evaluation agencies
U.S. universities, licensing boards and employers usually ask for a credential evaluation from a member of NACES — the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. Our certified translations meet the published translation requirements of these NACES members:
Word-for-word translation by a professional translator; uploaded as a PDF.
Complete, word-for-word, in the same format as the original.
Professional translation, line by line and word for word.
Literal, word-for-word translation by a reputable agency.
Certified translations preferred; accepted by email.
Certified English translation.
Certified English translation, uploaded with the original.
Certified and notarized, word-for-word — notarization is free with us.
Requirements summarized from each agency's official website and may change — always check your evaluator's current instructions. Using a different evaluator? Send us its requirements and we'll confirm before you order.
Applying to a U.S. college or university? Ask about translations first. Every school sets its own rules. Before you order, check with the admissions office — or the evaluation agency it works with — whether the translation must be certified or also notarized, whether they accept a translation from a professional translation company, and whether it should be uploaded as a PDF, mailed on paper or sent directly to them. Send us their instructions and we'll prepare the translation exactly the way they ask, so there are no surprises later.
Diplomas & transcripts we translate
We have translated more than 1,500 diplomas, transcripts and diploma supplements since 2007. These are the most common ones.

Send us the English spelling of every name
With your documents, please send the last name, first name and patronymic of every person in them — exactly as spelled in your U.S. documents or foreign passport (Green Card, Social Security card, visa). This way everything stays consistent with your other American documents, immigration applications and forms you have already filed. If a name has no English spelling yet, we'll transliterate it by standard rules. Already made your own translation? Send it along — we'll use it as a reference for names and places, while the certified translation is done from the original.
The patronymic stays in
Many clients don't use a patronymic in the U.S. and ask us to leave it out. We can't: a certified translation must be complete and match the original, so if the document shows a patronymic (Sergeyevich, Ivanovna), the translation shows it too. This does not cause problems — officers expect it on documents from Russia, Ukraine and other former Soviet countries. Have a passport from another country — Germany or Israel, for example — with no patronymic at all? Same rule: your first and last name are spelled exactly as in that passport, so they match your American documents and applications, and the patronymic from the original is transliterated by standard rules.
Have questions?
What is a certified translation?
A certified translation is an official, signed statement from a professional translation company or an independent translator verifying that the translated document is accurate and complete. Translations from companies must be certified with a translation stamp, or notarized through an affidavit confirming that the translation was completed by a qualified translator. The certification also confirms that the translator is qualified and competent to translate from the foreign language into English. The translation should include the name, address, phone number, website and email of the company or translator.
We recommend stating explicitly that the document was not translated by a family member, friend or business associate. This is especially useful when submitting a certified translation or a letter of verification form to a DMV office.
Are original documents needed for a certified translation?
No. We work with digital copies of your documents, which you can simply email to us.
Is notarization included?
Yes. Notarization is part of the certification process, at no extra charge.
Is a PDF copy enough?
Most of our clients order electronic (PDF) copies only. Please check with the organization you are submitting the translation to. The only difference between an electronic copy and a hard copy is that the hard copy comes with wet (real) signatures and stamps.
Can I order hard copies later?
Yes, you can order hard copies of your certified and notarized translation later.
When will it be ready?
Most of the time, the translation is ready in 3 to 5 business days. Expedited service is available for an additional fee.
What languages do you work with?
Besides Russian and Ukrainian, we work with German, French, Italian, Japanese and Chinese.
How do I order?
Take a picture of your documents and email them to [email protected]. In the email, include the correct English spelling of the names, consistent with your other official documents (Permanent Resident Card, Social Security Card, passport, etc.).
How do I receive hard copies?
We mail them by USPS First-Class Mail (no tracking), USPS Priority 2–3 business days with tracking, or USPS Priority Express 1–2 business days with tracking. International clients — please ask separately.
